The benefits of Medicare supplements
Regular Medicare pays for a lot of the types of medical-related expenses (health care services and supplies) you may incur while over the age of 65 and covered under this government-funded plan, but not all of the expenses, therefore, a Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy can help pay some of the remaining health care costs, like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Medicare will pay its share of the approved amount of expenses it can cover, and then your Medigap insurance will pay the rest. However, keep in mind that Medigap will not cover long-term care, vision or dental services, hearing aids, or private-duty nursing.
